Our new cookbook, which features traditional South African recipes, is an emphatic reminder of the rich history of the Cape. Tasty and modern, most of the recipes are used in the restaurant Damhuis at Melkbosstrand in the Western Cape.
The authors: Reinet Nagtegaal was an award-winning author known for her best-selling Voorvaders kan vlieg, sê Delores. In Damhuis Reinet’s love for stories and food became lyrically intertwined. Dirk Nagtegaal is a home chef and well known for his book Kok en skinker. His love of food landed him in the restaurant business and helped him build Damhuis into a popular restaurant. Stèfan Meintjies has been executive chef since Damhuis opened in 2009.
